Sharp-looking but I had issues with assembly and the clarity of instructions.Sheri in Reho
This CorLiving TV Bench has a smart look and design. I quite liked the fact that it has drawers rather than doors, which many similar products have. The bench is made from medium density fibre (MDF) board, which the product page says is even stronger and more moisture resistant than particle board. The color of the faux wood finish, Espresso, is very dark. I was hoping it was going to be more of a dark brown, but it is closer to black. In the accompanying video, you will see my black TV and black stereo components in the stand, and you'll see how close the color of the finish is to the color of the components.I had issues with both the assembly process and the assembly instructions provided by the manufacturer. While, at first, the instructions appear quite detailed, I found the print very difficult to read (those with "younger" eyes may not have much trouble) and couldn't always tell from the illustration what I was supposed to be doing or with what hardware. Thankfully, there is a list of all the hardware in the book that helps a lot in identifying which screw to use for what. There is also a list of all the pieces of the stand. Unfortunately, I found the labeling of the pieces themselves somewhat spotty. Some pieces had a label, some did not (or we never found it).This led to one major mistake on my part during assembly, which has caused a great deal of agita. We even took the stand all apart again when we discovered the assembly error (I had unknowingly switched stand parts E and F, which then created major problems installing the drawer rails), and still couldn't figure out how to fix the mistake I'd made once we had it apart.As you will see in the video, the stand arrived in horrible condition. This Corliving Jackson TV bench is a great accent to my living room. The espresso finish goes great with my carpeting, and thanks to an easy setup, clear instructions, and a very solid build, this bench acts as a great tv stand or just a good looking piece of storage furniture.First of all, Corliving does a fine job of foreseeing delivery companies manhandling and abusing a package this size and weight (close to 100 pounds), and does an excellent job in packaging this stand safely. When UPS left this on my doorstep the box was battered, bruised, and destroyed to a disturbing degree. I thought there would be damage for sure, but not so. Everything with the stand is lovingly packaged, and despite the box being a mess, all the parts of the stand were perfect.Thanks to easy to follow directions, the stand only took me about 20 minutes to put together. Everything fit into place perfectly and I had zero issues.I'm using this stand for a 60" plasma television that is roughly 80 pounds in weight. This stand seems more or less tailor-made for a 60" TV as my television fits absolutely perfectly, and the weight doesn't seem to be a problem at all. I've had stands that seem to sag just a little in the middle when weight is put on, but this stand takes it like a champ. It's solid as a rock, and its high craftsmanship shows. The two drawers on each side of the unit are sturdy and don't waver when stacked with piles of games and movies. I stuffed all four of them with games and blurays, and even when overflowing they open and close without a hitch. The faux-nickel handles on each drawer adds a nice touch to espresso finish, and all four drawers open and slide closed easily. Thanks to its excellent packaging, the bench arrived at doorstep in a condition far better than what I had expected considering the whole thing weighed over 100 lbs and it was delivered by UPS. The assembly instruction was very clear, it took me about half an hour to put it together, that's quite an accomplishment if you know how clumsy I am when it comes to this sort of thing. The bench seems to be very solid, and I really liked its color, in my opinion it would make a good fit with any room setting. This is however not made in the US, rather Malaysia, if that matters to you.
