4 out of 5 stars Once we got it put together, we loved it
Deb K

We ordered this from another site, but felt I needed to leave a review here to let others know our story. The product is not quite an oak finish- it's redder than the image - more like a cherry finish. Not a problem for us. I love the closed storage and the height is perfect for our 46" LCD TV. It does look beautiful, especially for a piece of RTA furniture. Our problems started when we opened the two boxes. A couple of items in both boxes had serious scratches and dents in the moulding (including both sides and the bottom piece for the entire unit- so no assembly could be done yet), AND we were missing some hardware. We called the manufacturer and it seemed as though it was rather routine for them to have this sort of problem. Without any question, replacement parts were cheerfully shipped out and we received them in less than a week.So now we could assemble the unit! Not so fast. Now we noticed that one of the doors was too wide, and another one was the wrong color. So we got the unit mostly assembled (minus the 2 doors) in about 3 hours, then we called again and had yet more pieces shipped out and we received them about a week later. So by now it's been about 2-3 weeks, and we're putting on the 2 replacement doors, and we find that one of the taller doors is again too wide to fit in the opening. I got ready to call the manufacturer for a third time, but my husband decided to fix it himself by planing down the width, just to be done with it. Finally! The credenza could be loaded with our dvds, cd's and components. Our DVD player doesn't fit inside the glass doors as I would have liked, but it fits well on the center shelf just below the TV.Overall, would we do it again? Perhaps. I like the look and function of the assembled unit.Read more ›

4 out of 5 stars Very good for this price point!

I definitely like this credenza, even though I wish it had more real wood in it. The description says it's poplar with veneer; but even the poplar is a veneer! There was a little damage on an inside surface which peeled away what appeared to be wood, but underneath it was also fiber-board. The only reason for this internal veneer would be for the owner/assembler to see since it's the underside of the top panel. The moulding going around the top and bottom edges, and also the bun feet seem to be the only pieces of solid wood. Maybe the trim surrounding the glass, but nothing else structural.Having said that, this a very solid product. Just don't plan on handing it down to your grandchildren. I like the design and I feel as though a fair amount of thought went into how cables would be routed throughout the cabinet. The color is definitely a cherry color despite the description of "distressed warm oak". It doesn't even have the characteristic oak grain pattern under the red finish! Fortunately for me, this still goes with our other wood furniture and I'd read plenty of other reviews stating the discrepancy. If the online picture were a touch more red, it would be spot-on. The written description isn't as accurate as the photo.I'd read where some people had to plane down some areas of the door to make them fit, but I found that by shifting the frame around before securing the back panel, the front doors fit better. The back panel locks the rest of the cabinet into place once it's squared; otherwise the front door frames aren't square with the doors. It should be noted that the top center opening is 34 3/4" wide and 7 3/8" tall and 17 3/4" deep. Just in case you want to fit equipment there.Read more ›

5 out of 5 stars We love this piece of furniture!
TechLady08

I cannot say enough good things about this enertainment center. It is absolutely beautiful! The lady that keeps our daughter said "I can't keep my eyes off it, it is so pretty." It was easy to put together but it did take my husband and I about 3 hours. We loved the way each piece was marked with a letter that corresponded to the instructions. It did have a few peelings but they were not where you could see them, so we didn't worry about them. It is very heavy duty wood. The color is more of a red wood or mahogany, which went well with everything we have. It is a dark wood. This is an incredible bargain and well worth every dime.

3 out of 5 stars Nice piece of furniture

This is a really nice credenza and would of given it 5 stars but the top has nickel size ding. also the wood blocks to mount door magnents were missing, but I made some so no big deal. Setup was easy, took me 2.5 hrs to put together.

4 out of 5 stars Nice Unit

I agree with the other review on this item. I too bought it from another web site which is a division of [...] NOTE: Be careful if not buying from Amazon. The site I bought from offered free shipping and no tax. Unfortuantely unless you read the fine print the company I bought from was in Canada and your credit card will charge an "international processing fee"!Other than that the unit looks great. It is a dark cherry color not "oak" if that is what you want. Not a big deal for us. We too were missing hardware, called the company and they are shipping out the parts today, again not a big deal. For the price the unit is worth it. Sturdy and heavy. Not cheap parts.
