This receiver is capable of passing the 4K Ultra HD data from the source to the monitor for image clarity far beyond present standards.
HDMI with 3D and Audio Return Channel3D means the receiver can handle 3D signal data. The Audio Return Channel function enables data to be sent and received via the same HDMI cable so you can hear the sound from the TV via a single HDMI cable with no need for an extra optical cable.

Yamaha's Compressed Music Enhancer employs sophisticated digital signal processing using exclusive algorithms to restore what was lost, so the music always sounds the way it should.
Zone B output provides 2-channel sound in a second roomZone B output capability allows the receiver to send 2-channel sound to a second zone, so the main zone now has 5-channel output. This means that users can enjoy stereo sound in a second room. The same source will play in both zones (cannot use two sources).
Total Purity Concept for the Finest Sound QualityThe Total Purity Concept, which Yamaha has been cultivating for many years, encompasses high drive amp technology, high purity preamplification, anti-vibration technology and independent pure power supplies. All models have a fully discrete power amplifier that helps to minimize distortion. They also adopt independent pure power supplies, allowing dedicated power supplies for the analog and digital circuitry to prevent digital noise from affecting analog circuitry. The anti-vibration heatsinks are designed to suppress vibration from transistors and sound pressure. Independent power supplies for the DACs are designed to further eliminate noise on certain models. Down to every detail, these AV receivers are designed with full emphasis on the highest possible sound quality.
Click here for a larger imageSubwoofer Trim Control for Improved Sound ImagingThe Subwoofer Trim Control enhances the low frequencies by avoiding overlap with the front speaker output. This will result in a cleaner, more focused sound stage while providing a seamless frequency response. When subwoofer frequency overlap occurs in conventional systems, the overall sound is "pushed" toward the subwoofer. Subwoofer Trim Control takes care of this by separating the low subwoofer frequencies cleanly, thus stabilizing the front stage while providing a well-balanced enhanced bass sound.
SCENE for One-touch StartPressing a SCENE button powers on the AV receiver and selects the input source and DSP mode. You can reset the buttons for different sources by selecting a source and DSP mode, then pressing a SCENE button for more than three seconds.
ECO Mode Lowers Power Consumption by 20 Percent*Yamaha's new ECO mode reduces power consumption by about 20 percent. It can be set from the top of the GUI menu.
*Compared to power consumption when ECO mode is off (Yamaha measurement).
Selectable Auto Power DownAuto power down lets you save energy by selecting to turn off the power after two, four, eight or 12 hours.

I bought this to replace my Onkyo since I wanted a little more power - I read the power spec on the yamaha main page (same as what is posted on Amazon's description as well) and thought it would go well with my existing speakersUpon turning it on at 80% volume I noticed a lot of distortion in the sound - made me go back to the spec to read the fine print - that is when I started noticing a lot of other numbers in the manualI had come to assume that all manufacturers are rating their outputs at the spec of below 0.1% THD, 2-ch, RMS but it turns out that Yamaha and a few other manufacturers are in a race to claim who has the max power - and in the process, they are forced to quote numbers that would not apply in every-day listening - so watch out what you are buying and how much power you are really gettingThe V577 might output a max 70W below 0.1% THD - compare this to my 10-year onkyo which can output 100W at below 0.08% THD - but Yamaha can claim power specs at 0.7% THD (read high distortion), 1 channel driven (mono went out of fashion 50 years back) - which would allow them to quote high power numbers like 115W

I purchased this a few days ago to replace an Onkyo TX-NR609 that stopped outputting sound a few months ago, after just 2 years. I can't speak to the v577's long term reliability, but the sound quality and features are terrific. The wifi is great and way more useful than I thought it would be, particularly if you are using Airplay. You can play songs from your iphone directly to the receiver, using the music player, itunes, pandora, and any other app that supports airplay. You can even set it so that the receiver will turn on and start playing if you stream a song to it from the phone. Great feature, and all the internet radio stations available through the wifi are a huge plus too. One thing you can't do (as far as I can tell) is stream video from your phone, for example from the youtube app, which would be nice.Second, the Zone B feature is killer because it outputs audio from digital inputs as well, i.e. audio coming in through HDMI. Unlike other receivers with Zone 2 capability, this allows you to output any audio playing in Zone A to Zone B, including TV, cable and any other audio from digital or analog sources. This lets me use my kitchen speakers to listen to the cable TV when I'm cooking. With most receivers with Zone 2 capability, including my old Onkyo, Zone 2 can't be used for any inputs coming into the receiver with HDMI, so all you can really use it for is music (e.g. from radio, a usb source, or stream). The downside is that Zone B on the Yamaha has to be the same source as Zone A, which is not an issue for me. If your second zone is a patio or other area completely separated from the main zone, and all you want in the second zone is music and radio, get a receiver with an independent Zone 2.Also, the remote and interface are way more user friendly than the Onkyo I had. Highly recommended if the feature set is right for you. Assuming this thing doesn't break down too quickly, I'll be sticking with Yamaha from now on.

Worked as advertised with little effort to set up. Not going to go into specifics or details, but know that I am 100% happy with this product. Allows me to stream Pandora, any internet radio station from anywhere in the world, my iPod or any local radio station through my house. Also, works perfectly with TV and allows me to hook computer into it via an HDMI connection and stream anything on my computer to it as well. Great product!

I finally decided to replace our old AV Receiver. I was able to get rid of a lot of extra cabling due to the HDMI support. Gotta love it.

The app for iOS is nice as well, has issues connecting, but thats an app issue, not a receiver issue. I liked the receive so much I replaced a second on in my house with the same model.

Just what we needed

I had three networked Onkyo stereos driving my whole house audio, but have now bought two of these receivers. Airplay and the iPhone/iPad app make it so much more user friendly for my wife than the Onkyos were. I will write more in the next few weeks but would highly recommend this product.
