5 out of 5 stars What an awesome, light, and sturdy tripod!
Dariushd

I deliberated for weeks before buying a tripod, since I wanted one that was 3lbs heavy and folded to less than 19", but was sturdy. I looked at this one, the MeFoto RoadTrip, a Manfrotto befree, and a Velbon Ultra-Rexi. I got hands on with this Benro and the MeFoto, and liked them both. I played with the Manfrotto befree, but it felt a bit too flimsy in comparison. My biggest debate was going aluminum to save money, or carbon fiber to save some weight. The price difference is pretty big, but if you can afford it, get the carbon fiber, otherwise the aluminum version of this tripod is equally great with only a small gain in weight. Also, this also has 4 leg sections, which I like, where the other travel size tripods usually have 5 sections. It's a pain having to extend and retract an extra section per leg, so the carbon fiber saves a little time and hassle. It folds down really easily and small, and its really super light and easy to take along. The monopod leg is also *very* light and absolutely solid. It feels more solid than a dedicated aluminum Oben ACM-2400 monopod I have (and am getting rid of now!) that is heavier and thicker. The V1 ball head is amazing. I have not had any trouble (yet) with the mounting screw for the quick release plate, as another reviewer mentioned in her review. BUT I am disappointed that in a $420 tripod, they don't give you a D-ring screw for the QR plate that you can operate with your fingers instead of a coin or allen wrench as this one requires. That they need to fix.I like that this comes with metal spikes for soft ground and a good metal QR plate. A spare one would've been nice to have in the kit. The kit bag is great and has 2 inside pockets for things like the aluminum short center column.Read more ›

4 out of 5 stars Light but sturdy
Marx Lives

This tripod is all the product description say it to be. It looks professional and nice. It comes with a well balanced bag. The ballhead is fantastic and very sturdy. I use it with my D600 and the 28-300mm tele. Unfortunately, the quick release plate has a common screw to the camera that leaves much to be desired. One must tied it with a coin but it eventually gets loose. Thus, although my gear is within the accepted weight of the ballhead, the plate's screw cannot hold the camera in place. A minor detail you might say, but it is a nuisance when you are in the field shooting. I will contact Benro to see if they could help me. I will keep you posted.UPDATE: Dec 30, 2013The total weight of my gear (Camera + Lens) is less than 2 kg. However, the screw holding the camera to the release plate gets loose very easily. I have had my husband tied it up over and over again to no avail. My point: The quick release plate's strength does not correspond to the advertised strength.According to the tripod's advertisement, this tripod can hold a weight of 14kg. My gear does not exceed the 2kg.I have contacted Benro. I am awaiting for their answer. I'll keep you posted.

5 out of 5 stars Great tripod for compact systems
Ray Austin

Super light, love that it folds down so small. I'm using it with a micro four thirds camera and its perfect for the compact system.

5 out of 5 stars Benro travel angel is well made
Steve

This is very well made and engineered. The reason I purchased this tripod was that I wanted one that would fit into carry on luggage. The mono-pod feature is a nicely done as well.
