Two years ago, I looked at dozens of wall mounts for large LCD/Plasma TVs. Most are very cheaply designed and manufactured. When I first saw this product (OmniMount ULPC-X), I had a case of "sticker-shock." I couldn't find it discounted anywhere and the retail price was around $500. But, I was so impressed with it when I saw it displayed at a retail store that I kept looking to find it discounted. I finally purchased it for under $300, close to what Amazon is selling it for.When I got it home, unpackaged it and looked at the instructions, I thought they were... "elaborate." Yes, if you wish to take full advantage of what this product can do, you have to drill into some sturdy and reliable wall studs. It took me about two hours to mount this unit correctly, and probably at least an hour of that was prep-time. What I have in return is a mounting device that solidly extends, tilts, and rotates - and it will do with the biggest and heaviest consumer-grade TVs found on the market. My OmniMount is now two years old, and I'm here on Amazon to buy yet another to use in another room, with a 60" TV. You can find cheaper wall mounts than this one, but you'll never outgrow this product if you upgrade to larger TVs in the future. In addition, you'll never regret buying something that will last a lifetime.

I now own the two best TV wall mounts for large and heavy plasma/LCD/LED TVs. The other mount I own is a Universal Plasma/LCD Mount - Premier Mounts. It's actually rated for 300lbs, and like the OmniMount collapses to 4 inches and extends 27". The mount weighs about 50lbs and is nothing short of a tank. However, the Premier Mount swings from either the left side or the right so you can't pull it straight out without shifting a foot or two to one side or the other. The OmniMount is a double arm mount that you can pull straight out and then swivel left or right. This was critical for me because I have mounted my 55 inch plasma TV inbetween 2 bay windows that are about 6 inches wider than the width of the TV. With the OmniMount I can pull the TV straight out 2 feet and still swivel enough to se the TV from either side of the backyard. I weigh 225 lbs. and with either mount I can do pull-ups with the arms extended. However, you need to be careful where your outlet and cable lines are coming in from. With the OmniMount its better if nothing is behind the mount at all. The dual arms are meant to lay flat against the wall when pushed all the way back. The Premier Mount is completely open behind the TV because it's supported by one verticle arm placed on one side or the other (big plus). Both mounts are a bit overkill for any TV, unless your're mounting a 200 lbs 80 inch TV, but they do instill confidence, which is what I want.Feature wise The OmniMount is better for the following:1) Pulling the TV straight out2) Rotating the TV clockwise or counter-clockwise (like a clock minute hand. The Omnimount ULPC-M mount has some exceptional features that make it very well suited to some installations:- FLEXIBILITY: The arm swings out 21.5", which gives you a lot of flexibility in aiming the television to various seating positions or to reduce reflections, or if the place you want to mount isn't ideal for the room layout.- ADJUSTMENTS: You can adjust the TV vertically (1.4") and side to side (2" total) *after* the mount is attached to the wall. That can really help if you are installing in a tricky location, if you change televisions, or just want to fine tune the location.- You can also level the screen after the mount is installed, if the mount is slightly off. (A lot of mounts have that, nice to have.)- It has reasonably nice cable management (you can run the cables inside the arms), which makes for a more finished install.- The folded mount is thinner than some (2.4" up to 200x200, more with the adapters), which lets the TV sit closer to the wall.A couple things to keep in mind:- The base mount is VESA compliant 100x100 to 200x200, and can go up to 300x400 with included adapters. I hung my Sharp Aquos with this mount and am truly happy that I spent a few extra bucks. It arrived a couple of days before it was scheduled to. This swivel mount not only allows me to get at the back of my TV, but turn it to see it from the kitchen, and it hides all of the wires! Since it is a swivel mount, it isn't quite flush with the wall, but I wasn't expecting it to be. My TV looks like it is floating about 4" from the wall. The instructions were in every language imaginable, but they were very concise and I only needed the first line on each page. It went together just as promised. I AM impressed!
