I'll address the dimensions issue first. After reading another review that mentioned that the space between shelves was less than the indicated 10", I contacted Sonax to get an official answer since part of my planning could have depended on the difference. The rep went and physically measured a model they had available, and the true dimensions turned out to be between the dimensions indicated here and what the other reviewer claimed; the height was also slightly greater than indicated. Sonax has since updated the diagram for this unit on their website ([...]), but it seems Amazon and other retailers have not yet. Just be aware of that. Now for the good news, and there's a lot. I had several requirements for my new entertainment unit and after searching EXHAUSTIVELY, this was the only model I found at ANY price that met all of the criteria. I bought this because I am upgrading my home theater setup to include a full AV receiver and some other additional components. I needed a unit that would provide adequate ventilation above, to the sides of, and behind said components, particularly the AV receiver, which meant having adequate space around the components. Vertical clearance was especially important since the center speaker I will be using is 8.5" tall -- too tall to simply put on the very top since it would block part of the TV. I would also have 6 components in the unit with a TV on top (very similar to the picture here, actually), but since I wanted to keep the TV at roughly eye level, that meant a small number of wide shelves rather than several narrower shelves stacked to make a tall unit.Read more ›

Overall this is a very good stand. The only down side, which I didn't realize before I ordered it, is the metal mesh backing. It's not open so it really limits the depth of components you can put in as the power cables, etc push up against the backing so you really have only about 15" of depth. I'm planning on trying to cut out the metal backing to overcome this. Otherwise the stand is super sturdy and can handle really heavy components so it would be great if it wasn't limited by the depth. I got a NAD T975 amplifier which weighs 70 lbs so I was worried if the stand could support it. I called Sonax customer support and they were great. The girl didn't know the weight capacities but found out and got back to me within 15 mins. For those interested the weight limits are:Top (TV) shelf = 200lbsBottom/mid shelf = 100lbsIt handles my NAD T975 great except that I have to have it sitting sideways because of the component depth issue.

This will be a 2 part review. The first part will be Sonax's customer service. The 2nd part will be for the unit itself.Sonax Customer Service: One word - EXCELLENT! I called because I wasn't sure which TV stand I wanted. I was concerned with the dimensions of the shelves because I was afraid not everything would fit (some components were too tall, some were too deep). The very first thing the customer service rep said was, "Which stands are you looking at? OK, if you don't mind holding on for a few minutes I'll run down to the warehouse and measure all the shelves to confirm. Be right back." I didn't have to beg or even ask. After he came back, he gave them all to me and I narrowed it down to just this one. I had a few more questions so he suggested that he send me the owner's manual for it so I could see how it all is put together and how easy it is to set up. I didn't feel rushed like he wanted me off the phone because I was wasting his time and was just very enjoyable to deal with. He explained the warranty (because I'm always concerned about buying big, heavy, glass things online) and he explained how they are packed and not to worry but should something get scratched or broken, just to call back and they'll make it right ASAP. One of the best experiences I've ever had with a customer service agent (Gabriel was his name). The Sonax Milan Stand: One word - EXCELLENT! It may have taken longer to take the pieces out of the box then it did to set it up. The wooden back is joined to the wooden sides with hinges. You pull it out of the box and open it like a set of doors. You then screw in some metal pieces that hold in the front braces and a few more metal pieces to hold up the back part of the shelves and you're done. Really, it's that simple.Read more ›

Ordered one day shipping and received next day. How in the world can this heavy item be shipped for $3.99 is beyond me.Easy to assemble, took all of 15 minutes. Looks great and very very heavy duty. Item arrived with some damage but was willing to live wit it after calling and inquiring, Was offered 10% off and although it was less than I expected I accepted it. It would have been a royal pain to put this back into a box for return shipping. Product description shows 10" shelves but due to the height of the steel you can only put components of maximum height of 8.25".Looks sexy, heavy duty, Amazon, whats not to like.
