3 out of 5 stars Beautiful up conversion/terrible 3d ghosting
ShmackDad

Many things I love about this set, but I can't get over the terrible ghosting with the 3d. Everything else is great, but for this price I didn't expect the 3d to get worse. No way to adjust this with the settings.

5 out of 5 stars Tough Choices, but no worries with this LG.

We had purchased a 65 in Samsung for our Den about a two years ago and have been please with its performance. At that time, this set was the bee's knees....until now. We decided to prematurely upgrade the 65 in and wanted something bigger. The choice was the 78 in Samsung curved (nice but pricey), 75 in Samsung flat (did not seem as good a picture), Sony 75 in flat (nice colors) or the LG 79 in panel (great all the way round). I really was leaning towards another Samsung, but saw a demo between the curved Sammy and the LG side by side. I am a big fan of Samsung, but based on the picture quality and vividness of the LG, plus the motion enhancements for live action scenes, we decided to go with the LG 79 in flat panel. So far, this TV has exceeded expectations, and is way more than we expected. It fills up the wall perfectly, then we realized how small the 65 in Sammy was :( OK, that is fixed now.It has likely come to a point where the differences between manufacturers are not that distinguishable (especially LG and Samsung, who are at each others heels all the time always up sizing each other...very competitive companies which dives innovation and quality). We would highly recommend this set for picture clarity, size, sound and fast action (it is actually a 240Hz refresh rate not 120 Hz). The magic mouse/TV interface also is absolutely awesome, being able to move your hand like a virtual mouse to select items and text on the screen. The Sammy is still stuck with the manual track-pad. Yuck! That is OK if you have time to waste....The side bonus is that it was the lowest cost for the size, but that was not the driving factor. The overall experience with this TV, again has been truly awesome. We highly recommend it.

4 out of 5 stars Have to say so far awesome. Only bad part is the lack of 4k ...
the brain

Have had this for roughly six weeks. Have to say so far awesome. Only bad part is the lack of 4k content to play on it. Bought the Godzilla 4k remastered (matthew Broderick) and it looked grainy, much better after adjusting but it seems others have had issues with that movie copy so not a true litmus test. But even without the 16-20 meg download speed necessary, watching 4k content downgraded to 1080p on netlfix looks quite good (and you can see the shift to how much better it should be once you have the necessary speed or a content medium, aka blu ray, to play on it). Next step is to try some 3d on it. It gets a negative for only supplying two 3d glasses and finding out what and how to get more is a bear, so a deduction there. Warning that with the speakers on the sides it's a heavy bear to move. Bought the Samsung top plasma at same time and color is not taking a back seat to that, so again very impressive. The remote is cake to use and very user friendly. other deduction is the 4k port for devices, which keeps saying check connection and after hooking up oppo blu ray players it didn't play the content without distortion and no audio, and even when it worked plugging in DirecTV then it still gives a message to check the connection. Annoying and a flaw that I can't seem to pinpoint with any documentation, nor could Oppo themselves help after troubleshooting themselves in their own lab. All in all still an awesome TV. Better make sure you have the room, because it's a massive beast once you unbox it.

5 out of 5 stars Netflix true 4K!!
Quentin Tarantino

If you have this tv hooked up with 4k hdmi rated cables and have min 30 Mbps Internet from your internet service provider, plus Netflix streaming plan-get prepared for awe-inspiring 4k! House of cards in 4K is ridiculous!
