I bought this because I have a BDI cabinet that does not have the capacity for a large center channel in the center channel drawer, therefore I would have to place the speaker on top of the cabinet (8492-2 Novia), and I bought this to raise my 65" panasonic plasma 10" above the cabinet. The panny is 123lbs, and this thing apparently has a 160lb capacity (thought it says 40-60" capacity) .. with the side mount option (the bracket arms that attach to the rear plate) the tv causes the main spine/beam to lean forward just a tad (nothing that i'm worried about or that looks awkward) but the nice thing is that i think BDI anticipated this because there is a leveling tool on the bracket to adjust the canter and allow you to vertically level the tv.The construction quality is great. I put the felt gliders on the feet so that I can easily move it back and forth with little effort. Probably $200 more than it's worth, but what can you do, not many people make this sort of thing.

We found a TV console that matched our bedroom furniture, but didn't have a TV mount. We found several TV mounts that didn't match our furniture. Then at Design Quest in Grand Rapids, we found this solution. As a warning, it is designed for 40" TV's: Our 37" Westinghouse would not fit the stand when assembled out of the box, however a 32"-37" wall mounting kit will have a plate that will fit the TV, and then fit on this mount. When the Westinghouse died recently, we purchased a Samsung UN46C6900VFXZA which worked with the stand with no extra hardware needed. The spine works to conceal the cables and has multiple spots in the back so you can keep the power exiting the very bottom while the HDMI and other cables can thread through where they need to be with ease. The arms articulate nicely to adjust the angle side to side while the levels on the feet help to keep the panel perfectly vertical; meaning no, there is no way to tilt the screen up or down. If you like to sit on the floor in front of the TV (playing video games, eating bowls of cereal, having been kicked off the couch by the spouse/kids/pets) then this stand may not give you the best seat in the house. What sets this stand apart is that it doesn't have cabinetry or any shelves that may or may not be suitable for your entertainment devices. You can use any furniture, even dressers, or no furniture at all. It allows you to integrate your plasma/LCD/LED TV precisely where you want it with your style around it.

I am very happy with the BDi Arena 9972 freestanding TV mount. It wouldn't have bothered me if it cost a little less but all in all I think it was money well spent. It is extremely versatile, well constructed, not at all hard to put together and supports my 85lb plasma quite well. The biggest thing I was looking for in a stand of this type was the ability to mount the TV low enough. Yes, I said LOW enough, I didn't want my TV mounted 3/4's of the way up the wall where you have to strain your neck or lay down just to watch it and this stand let me do just what I wanted. I also get the added plus of being able to use a multitude of tables or center channel stands for the other components of my system. Don't misunderstand though... this stand will go quite high if you need it to. It is very adjustable. The one, tiny complaint I have would be the choice of 3" hole pattern on the main upright used to bolt on the articulating arms. Moving the arms up or down on the upright only allows for 1" overall height variances. One can only get a 1/2" variance by switching the arms from front to side or side to front and that changes the depth location of the TV. In my opinion a 1.5" hole pattern would have yeilded even better adjustability by giving a 1/2" increment to both the front and side sets of holes and I do not believe the extra holes would compromise the structural integrity of the unit at all.About the only thing this stand lacks is tilt. It swivels a lot more that the stock tabletop base it replaced. It does come with some leveling wheels that go on the bottom TV hanger bracket threaded studs that gives you a little "tilt-ability". I'd say by not using them you can get about a 5 degree downward tilt and with them maybe 3-5 degree up.All-in-all I am very pleased and I will probably keep this stand forever.

The BDI product is very well made and easy to assemble with high quality parts and documentation. We are using it to compliment a media console that we like and did not want to replace. Instead of mounting this to the wall in a permanent solution with all of the implications of that, the BDI is enabling us to achieve the same effect and yet it is portable. The BDI is very solid and fits under and behind the console very easily. It has sufficient ability to tailor the height and swing for this type of installation. For those that have a short media console that want to raise a plasma/LCD/LED TV of 50" or more and don't want to replace the console or mount the monitor to the wall, this is a great solution. Moreover, when we move, we will be able to take it with us.. Highly recommended..

I have the BDI Avion 8527 cabinet with the optional stainless steel poles (previously used on a 50" TV) which only support up to a 60" TV so needed something to work with the cabinet that would support a 65" TV. This works great. It looks very finished behind the cabinet and the upright stand hides the cables coming from the cabinet. I am very pleased with the BDI Arena 9972 mount. Even though the Amazon description says it will only work for flat panels up to 60 inches, the BDI (manufacturer) website states it will work for flat panels up to 65 inches. [...]I had no problem. BTW, my 50 inch plasma (purchased in 2005) weighs more than my new 65 inch plasma!
