Description
The Fujinon HA42x13.5ERD is a stabilized telephoto HDTV ENG-style lens for all high-definition broadcast news and field production applications. It has a focal length of 13.5 to 570mm for 42x zoom ratio, and contains servos for zoom and focus. The OS-TECH vibration-proof mechanism stabilizes the lens through the use of computer control. It also contains the well-known digital servo control system known as DigiPower, which contains all the latest state-of-the-art lens technology, including features like QuickZoom, OneShot preset, AutoCruise, Zoom Mode Select, Zoom Speed Adjustment, and Zoom Limit. The Zoom Mode Select changes the zoom response from "normal" to more sensitive on the wide or telephoto side. Zoom Limit limits either the wide side and/or telephoto side to capture desired shot angles. Auto-Cruising Zoom fixes the zoom speed at a preset rate while zooming. DigiPower
With broadcasting technology rapidly converting to digital, Fujinon has developed a digital servo control system, DigiPower, to enhance the performance of its zoom lenses. State-of-the-art components including a 32-bit RISC processor in the lens, a CPU in each servo demand, optical encoders and high-speed serial communication devices, together with the newly developed digital control circuit, provide 13-bit accuracy in zoom and focus control as well as a variety of other functions. An RS232 connector in the lens provides a connection between the lens and a PC, or other control device, for external control. This function has made it possible to control the lens functions with the high degree of accuracy and reliability needed for virtual studio and other robotic applications, and to raise the level for all production environments Quick Zoom
Quick Zoom speed is improved to 0.7 seconds end to end. Quick Zoom provides for a rapid zoom movement to the telephoto position to check focus with the simple push of a button. Releasing the button returns the lens to the previously selected zoom position. Quick Zoom can now be performed remotely from the ERD-T22 and ERD-10A-D01. Focus Breathing Compensation
In most lenses when the focus is operated, the angular field of view changes much like zooming. This is called the zooming effect of focus, or "breathing." Utilizing digital control technology, Fujinon has solved this problem by enabling the angular field of view to remain constant by synchronizing the zoom movement to the focus movement, thus reducing image size change when focusing.

At first, I was a tad reluctant to spend so much money on a camera lens, but I ultimately decided that it was cheaper than a college education for my son and, if it took such wonderful pictures, he could perhaps earn more money and fame as a photographer (hey, how about that HONY guy?) than he could with a college degree. So far, he's just loving this lens. And I think it'll only get better when we can afford a camera to attach it to

Using the advanced lens I was able to see god simply by pointing the lens to the sky. I was also able to initiate contact with aliens. For the near 80k it was such a great deal I just had to get it. I saved a nice whopping $2.99 !!! Thanks Amazon!

I must say that while this lens was pretty good I definitely get better zoom quality out of my cell phone camera. I mean at least with my cell phone I can use Instagram right? This thing does get some pretty quality pictures of the lawn chair and the shadows that make me feel angsty and cool. For nearly 80K dollars I mean I'd expect this to at least make me coffee in the morning or supply me with an endowed... well you know.. and in the end all it does is give me pretty pretty pictures.
