For example, in a 7.1-channel system, when Zone 2 is off, all 7.1 channels will be used in the Main Zone. However, when Zone 2 is on, power to the two surround back channels will be directed to the two speakers in Zone 2 and the Main Zone will receive 5.1 channels of power. Similarly, when CINEMA DSP 3D is on, the two Front Presence speakers will be powered and not the two surround back speakers. When CINEMA DSP 3D is off, this situation is reversed. Nice Unit But Bug in Internet Radio AccessW. Denman
Update: 8-14-2014: I have had some good feedback from Keith at Yamaha, which was helpful. I am upgrading my recommendation to a 4. My caveats below stand. Every so often SiriusXM loses connection and the only ways to reset are to delete and re-initialize the account, or just wait for a while. The first method is instantaneous. This is infrequent, but VERY annoying. They need a better reconnect function. And second, the HDMI programming does not account for new 21st century internet providers nor TV as a standalone monitor, so you have to hit buttons twice, the second after 10 seconds or so after the TV powers on depending on what function you are using. My hope is that they tweak this in a future patch. I intend to keep the unit.I just acquired a RX-V777BT and have spent several days configuring and evaluating. This replaces a Sony STR-DN1000. I have fully wired 7.1 surround, TiVo, BD, and Samsung 50" used strictly as a monitor (important, see below), turntable, iPod, etc.One major functional upgrade I was looking forward to was the ability to stream SiriusXM, Pandora, etc. directly from the web into my living room. This works, BUT there is a bug.If you set the Scene Net button to Sirius (or Pandora, or press the Radio scene for FM radio, etc.) with HDMI on, and press it, all works fine, TV comes on with Sirius display, connects and plays music. This is desirable, since the display is very useful for browsing music, channels, etc.BUT after some seconds input switches from Sirius (or Pandora or FM radio or etc.) to AV4.No music. Even if you have set HDMI off for the scene, but after playing a bit you manually turn on the TV, it will switch to AV4. This can be set under HDMI Control/TV Audio Input (see page 106 Owner's Manual).Read more ›

Amazing sound and power. Very easy setup. I love it sounds through my Energy CF-70s and cc-10 center. Can't wait until I complete my surround sound. I'm very happy with my choice. I will recommend to friends.

Absolutely the best receiver I've owned. I had a very good Sony for 15 years and Pioneer prior to that; neither one died but I upgraded to keep up with the technology. But after reading the non-bias reviews and even folks that worked at local audio store I decided to spend more. Here were my reasons: 4k pass that will handle UltraHD TVs that are the future. Bluetooth from my phone is very cool. Just connect and play out of my Itunes. Sound Fields - lets face it, no two rooms are the same and my current setup consist of Bose 301s front channel, Acoustic Research center, Sony subwoofer and sony rear channels, all in cabinets on the same wall as TV. Yamaha Receive can create sound fields with this or any other setup that is unbelievably as if you are surrounded by the speakers. And true, for highs and lows and the entire sound spectrum this receiver carries with great clarirty from very low volume to turning it up loud enough, you can call the cops and send them to your neighbors house, because they won't be able to tell where the band is set up! Its that good. I hate writing reviews, however, I was happy to write this one. Yamaha killed it with this receiver!
